Years 3 and 4

Teacher: Mr Ben Hill

There are now 22 students in class 3/4 this year with the inclusion of a couple of new students since the start of the year. There are now 8 students in Year 4 and 13 in Year 3, Literacy and Numeracy groups are based on ability with students completing contracts for literacy groups and textbook and hands on activities for maths.

During the study of our HSIE unit National Parks, students designed and built their own traps for eradicating feral animals from our parks. Although these traps were only made out of plasticine and paddle pop sticks, the concepts of trip wires and cages dropping down from above, indicated a lot of  thought had been used.

Students are working hard researching and writing speeches on a chosen animal found around their house. Students will display pictures of the animals habitats while sharing information about where and how it survives in our environment. This is part of our Science Unit called Mini Worlds.

For most of the students in 3/4, they have recently attended their first Gala Sporting Day. Late in Term 1 Years 3-6 attended a soccer day held at Rushforth Park, South Grafton. Then a week later shared a hockey day with Cowper P.S. at the Hockey Complex, in Grafton.

Congratulations to all the Year 3 students for completing the NAPLAN tests during week 4. We all know you gave it your best and are now excited about the many activies left in Term 2.

All students have continued with their weekly tests  and the odd topic

Students have weekly spelling and mentals tests and are asked to complete homework and home reading. All students are registered with Mathletics and are encouraged to follow up all class work by using this fantastic resource.

Every Tuesday the students will attend Library and Computers with our Librarian, Ms Moyle and on Wednesdays will participate in Choir ad CAPA sessions preparing them for the many performances throughout the year.

We have all started the year with great excitement and are all keen to do our best.
