Years 5 and 6

Teacher: Mrs Robyn Urquhart

The 5 and 6 class has 19 students. There are twelve children in Year 5 and seven in Year 6. Literacy groupings are based on ability and numeracy groups follow the year levels. Human Society and Its Environment and Science and Technology are covered by stand-alone units. Our unit this term is and Light Shows.

Students have weekly homework sent home each Monday and due back Thursday. The homework focuses on the weekly spelling rule, maths and HSIE/Science activities.

Ms Moyle takes the class for Library, technology and music each Tuesday afternoon. The class also has technology time with Ms Moyle on a Tuesday. This time is rotated with the 3/4 class. Mr Davison takes the class on Friday for Principal's release. He focuses on PD, Health and PE, as well as the regular class program. This term the theme for PD is  home, school and rural safety.

Each Wednesday students are involved in CAPA groups rotating around activities of dance, visual arts, ukulele, percussion and drama. The Year 3-6 choir is busy working towards eisteddfod in late June involving other Clarence Valley schools under the guidance of Mr Hill.

This term students have been involved in swimming carnivals and many will represent the school at District and Mid North Coast levels. We are very proud of all of our athletes.
