About our school

Lawrence Public school is a medium sized country primary school. It services a diverse community made up of farmers and people who commute to the larger centre of Grafton. The school is a positive focus for the community and plays an active part in town life. The school's purpose is to create a positive learning environment in which children are given the opportunity, assistance and support to achieve their potential intellectually, personally and socially, through encouragement of effort, improvement and excellence.

The school is dedicated to students becoming, not only literate and numerate, but also young Australians who can make a positive contribution to society. This is achieved through the effective working of the dedicated teaching staff and the positive contributions made by a wide range of parents and community members. There is a strong focus on the basic skills of Literacy and Numeracy and also traditional values. Students are challenged, as individuals, to develop a lifelong desire to learn and their needs are met through a wide range of programs including providing sporting opportunities for all, a focus on creative and performing arts in particular music, integration of computers and interactive technology in classrooms and a supportive student welfare focus.
